drn Error Code

Condition:

This error code appears when your washer is no longer draining properly. The error occurs when the machine stays partially filled or to the top with water inside the washer’s basin.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

The water drain hose.

How To Fix The Problem:

There are three drain hose configuration types on top load washers that may require adjusting to fix this error code on a Maytag washing machine:

Standpipe Drain System

The end of the drainpipe should be a minimum of 36 inches but not more than 96 inches from the floor. Check on the point of installation to ensure the “ground level” has met up to the 36-inch threshold.

Laundry Tub Drain System

The drainpipe should be a minimum of 36 inches but not more than 96 inches from the floor. Check on the point of installation to ensure the “ground level” has met up to the 36-inch threshold.

Floor Drain System

Floor drain hoses need a siphon break-kit that you need to buy separately. Make sure the siphon is at least 28-inches off the floor. Check on the point of installation to ensure the “ground level” has met up to the 28-inch threshold.

F## or F# E# Error Codes

Condition:

A System Error Code

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

Sensors or the computer motherboard.

How To Fix The Problem:

You will need to reset the motherboard code by holding the START/PAUSE button once. This will clear the code. From here press the START/PAUSE button once which will reset your washer. If the code reappears, you will need an appliance technician to look at the fault code on your Maytag washing machine.

HC Error Code

Condition:

Reversed cold and hot inlet hoses.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

The inlet hose attachments to either the washing machine or the water faucet.

How To Fix The Problem:

This fix is fairly easy and usually requires changing around the hose-inlet hoses. This error appears when the hose for cold and hot water is in the wrong place. Once the positions are reversed, reset your motherboard by holding down and pressing the START/PAUSE button twice.

LdL Error Code

Condition:

The lid is not locking.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

The lid itself, the lid latch point, or any part around the lid.

How To Fix The Problem:

An LdL code appears when the washer’s lid is not locked or closed completely. Repairing this problem will require checking around the entire lid for obstructions and to remove them. Also, check the lid-locking latch for any obstructions around the point of contact to the body of the washing machine.

LdU Error Code

Condition:

The lid won’t unlock.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

The lid itself, the lid latch point, or any part around the lid.

How To Fix The Problem:

This code appears when the lid of the washer is no longer locking. Removing a bulky item such as a heavy blanket from the washer might free the mechanism allowing the washing machine to open.

F8 E1 Or LF, Lo FL Error Codes

Condition:

The washing machine takes longer than usual to fill up with water.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

The water line, water-supply inlet valve, or the household faucet that supplies water to the machine.

How To Fix The Problem:

To troubleshoot this type of error code on a Maytag washing machine, check on the faucet where water enters the machine and the water inlet valve. If your faucet is on, and the valves are also open, check the hose that leads to your washer for any kinks. You should also have cold and hot water supplying the machine in order for it to fill up properly.

Lid Error Code

Condition:

When the lid is open.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

The locking mechanism, the washer lid, or the area that surrounds the lid.

How To Fix The Problem:

The lid of the washer must be level and closed completely. If the lid is open for more than ten minutes the cycle you have chosen will reset. This will cause the machine to drain the water out, which means the cycle will start from the beginning again. Rather don’t add more detergent. All you need to do is close the lid and press the START/PAUSE button once.

Ofb Error Code

Condition:

The load in the washing machine is unbalanced.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

The internal drum of the washer.

How To Fix The Problem:

When a washer is unbalanced and runs a load-balance correction routine, let the machine complete the routine. From here there are a few things that can be done to solve this problem.

If the dial is flashing the water has stopped, which means you can open the machine’s lid. Move the clothes around and try to make it more even along the bottom part of the drum, followed by closing the lid. From here press the START/PAUSE button once. If the machine vibrates while spinning, this is common for a load that is not balanced. Pause the spinning cycle and move the clothing around so that they are loose along the bottom and sides of the drum.

Avoid adding wet soaked items or more water to the cycle as this will upset the cycle.

Use the Bulky/Sheets Deep Water setting on your washer for oversized items or those items that do not absorb water very well.

OL Error Code

Condition:

The load in the machine is too big.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

The clothing inside and the washer tub.

How To Fix The Problem:

This error code appears when you have overloaded your washer.

The washer tub and clothing inside.

How To Fix The Problem:

This error code appears when the washing machine is overloaded. Take out some of the clothing items and then press the START/PAUSE button once after closing the lid to restart the wash cycle. The code will reappear if the load is still too heavy.

PF Error Code

Condition:

An interruption in power has stopped the wash cycle.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

The motherboard or washing machine.

How To Fix The Problem:

Hold the Start button so that the cycle resets.

Sud Error Code

Condition:

There is too much soap in your washer.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

Washer basin, water inlet, and the body.

How To Fix The Problem:

You should only be using HE or High-Efficiency detergent for washing machines!

Remove the clothes and run the RINSE/SPIN cycle. This will clear away the excess soap.

LC or LOC Error Codes

Condition:

The control lock has been activated.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

The lid’s locking mechanism.

How To Fix The Problem:

Hold down the CONTROL LOCK button. Some of the older models use different buttons to activate the lid’s control lock. Refer to the owner’s manual to find out which button to press.

dET Error Code

Condition:

The machine is not detecting the detergent cartridge.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

Detergent dispenser drawer.

How To Fix The Problem:

Some of the Maytag models have a detergent drawer designed for detergent tablets which are placed before the wash load begins. Make sure the tablet has been inserted correctly and is in the right place. The drawer should also be shut completely.

Int Error Code

Condition:

The cycle was interrupted, cancelled, or paused.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

The spin cycle of the washing machine and the motherboard.

How To Fix The Problem:

Allow the washing machine to drain completely and spin, which could take as long as 20 to 30 minutes. If the code remains visible during this cycle, you can remove it by pushing the PAUSE button twice, followed by the POWER button once. If you still see the code, reset the machine manually by unplugging the power cord and plugging it back in.

F34 or rL Error Codes

Condition:

During the Clean Washer cycle, the machine detected items in the washer.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

Washer drum.

How To Fix The Problem:

This is a very common problem with Maytag washing machines and a simple one to fix. Open the washer’s lid and take out the items while the Clean Washer cycle is running. Once the lid is closed press the START button so that the cycle can continue.

F5 E2 Error Code

Condition:

The door on the washer is not closing and locking properly.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

Around the lid and the washer lid.

How To Fix The Problem:

This code will require a very easy Maytag washer troubleshooting. Make sure nothing is stopping the lid from closing. The code can then be cleared by pushing the PAUSE button twice and the POWER button once.

F7 E1 Error Code

Condition:

Motor-speed sensor error.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

Washer motor.

How To Fix The Problem:

Since this fault code for Maytag washing machines is an indication that the motor in the washer is not reaching the right speed, it also means the cycle won’t run correctly.

How To Fix This Problem:

Make sure that the shipping bolts have been removed.

Remove heavy items that may be overloading the washer.

Press the PAUSE button twice, followed by the POWER button once to clear this code.

F8 E2 Error Code

Condition:

A flow of low water is detected.

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

The water inlet hoses, the faucet valve, or the water inlet valve.

How To Fix The Problem:

There are a few ways to check on the water that flows into the washing machine. Here is a checklist you can use before you call a professional:

  • The household water supply must be turned on.
  • The cold and hot faucets are completely open.
  • There are no visible kinks in your inlet hoses that supply the washer.
  • The waterline should not have any anti-flood controls.
  • The code can be cleared by pushing the PAUSE button twice followed by pushing the POWER button once.

F9 E1 Error Code

Condition:

The water takes too long to drain (usually over 8 minutes).

Parts where a possible failure could take place:

Washer drum or the water drain hose.

How To Fix The Problem:

This is a trickier Maytag error code to deal with. Here are the things you can check when your washer isn’t draining fast enough.

  • Check for or straighten kinks in your hose.
  • Check for or remove clogs from your drain hose.
  • Check that the standpipe is at least 39 inches and no more than 96-inches off the ground.
  • Limit using soap that causes excessive suds.
